Oatmeal Cookies

Oatmeal Cookies





Oatmeal cookies are very easy to make. The ingredients and proportions are simple. Oatmeal has high amount of fiber, low calorie, few bites makes you fell full and also removes bad cholesterol. So why wait, go ahead, take full advantage of oats while enjoying the delicious, hassle free and healthy homemade oat cookies ! 


Ingredients
§  Flour (Maida)      – ¾ cup
§  Oats (Quick Oats) – 1.25 cup
§  Sugar                 – 1 cup
§  Butter (Melted)    – ½ cup
§  Baking Soda        – ¾ tsp
§  Salt                   – ¼ tsp
§  Egg/Banana        – 1 (Refer Tip below *)
§  Cinnamon          – 1 tsp
§  Vanilla Essence    – 1 tsp
§  Raisings             – ½ cup
§  Chocolate Chips   – ½ cup (Optional)


Method
1.    Pre-heat oven to 200°C.
2.    Grease parchment paper with butter and place it on the baking tray.
3.    Sieve Flour, Baking Soda, Sugar, Salt, Cinnamon into a clean dry bowl.
4.    Add Oats and mix with the dry ingredients.
5.    Now add the wet ingredients – butter, egg/mashed banana, vanilla essence. Mix well.
6.    Lastly add the raisins and chocolate chips (optional) and mix well.
7.    Take small portions from the dough and place them on the greased parchment sheet about 1” to 2” apart. You can use spoon also to place the dough on the parchment sheet.
8.    Bake for 12 to 15 minutes (time varies based on the capacity of the oven) (Refer Tip **)
9.    Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on a cooling rack.





Serving
Enjoy the cookies with your hot cup of Tea or Coffee.


Tip
  For vegan cookies, replace egg with 1 mashed banana. This will further reduce the cholesterol content from the recipe.
**

  1. You can check the doneness of the cookies by inserting a metal stick. If the stick is clean cookies are done.
  2. The done cookies show slight brown color at the edges.
  3. If you want crispier cookies you can bake for few more minutes. But keep a watch ! else you make burn your cookies.
